When you rationalize the whole situation, as car owner we think what would be nice, like a new bumper for a non damage situation when a paint work will do the job. If the other driver refuse to settle, then insurance comes in, for a nudge the claim comes to $800 to $1K, then when they increase the insurance premium we make noise.

Ultimately what cost only $200 can be inflated just for workshop to earn which goes back to our premium which comes back to us again. We are always at the losing end, so bro MdZul I applaud your action by being reasonable and not to take advantage of the situation.

Paint peeled off due to scratches sustained in the bump. definitely i want that rectified as can see the black rubbers of the bumper. This not nice lah.. Only way to cut repair cost is to respray whole bumper or else change whole bumper, which is what some would claim to do but in actual fact just respray; difference in $$ just pocket lah. But just don't seem honest and since the driver never try to shift blame, i just do the right thing lah. If i post this in another forum, people would say - "go for broke"!

I'm a bit confused here. This is considered as private settlement right? No insurance involved? But we still need to make a report to our insurance company right and tell them both parties decided to do a private settlement? For bro pl case, where is the black and white that both parties agree to a private settlement if its one? If its a private settlement, where does the bill go to? What if last minute the other party dosent agree? What if the other party informed his insurance company and claiming against bro pl insurance co??

Have faith bro... that is the standard procedure if you do not trust the other driver. However if you do, you can follow PL's way lah.

As for private settlement and making report to the insurance, that's really up to you. It will only add to their statistic for them to increase the premiums.
