Neuton NT 5000 - Ikon's Review

Post  Ikon on Thu Dec 17, 2009 11:28 am

Manufacturer : Neuton (YHI Singapore)
Model :NT 5000
Usage : 0408 to 1209
Mileage :30,000 KM
Tire Spec : 205/40 - 17
Cost per Tire : $ 90 per piece
F/C : Average 10km/l

Comments:-

Basically this made in Indonesia tire is good during the initial stage. However the tire start to deterioriate after the 10,000 KM mark and the noise is beyond bearable at high speed. Throughout my usage, wet condition will expererience steering twitch when hitting standing water, overall wet is quite grippy. Dry grip is very good, have not once gone out of the cornering line at relatively higher speed then normal.

The tire is also prone to chipping off from the sidewall when graze against kerb and etc. Overall the sidewall is very hard, base on the cost, this tire would be great for trackking as overall grip is excellent.

Finally had to give up on these set of rubber due to bulging of the inner sidewall for the left front and rear. According to the agent (YHI) the bulge would be due to my low profile and going in potholes or hitting hard against something. Had to change them as they are dangerous and also getting to noisy.

Rating:-

1. Dry Grip : 4/5
2. Wet Grip : 3/5
3. Noise Level : 1/5
4. Corner & Braking : 3/5
5. Value for Money : 3/5

Overall Score : 14/25

Overall Rating : Like a Star @ heaven Like a Star @ heaven Like a Star @ heaven

Cheap for 17" tires that comes by under $100/-, if you are short of cash this tire will do the job but must bear with the nosie. Budget performer.

Yup, you can't complaint, you get what you pay for and these tires have serve me well for the past year and half or so. Value for money if you look at it and performance is okay except the noise.
