My Captiva Empty My Captiva

Post  Captivian_Major Mon Feb 22, 2010 11:15 am

Being p***off of alphine motor and wrote a love letter to GM last friday......jus nice tis morning when exiting AMK Ave 1 from highway to Boundary road my engine out of sudden shut down manage to restart the car and move off..... here is the letter as follows:

Dear Mr XXXXX

I would like to express my disappointment with your newly/ solely appointed authorize agent, Alpine Motor.

On the 9th January 2010, my captiva cannot ignite and I had called for AAS to jump start in the morning at around 10am. After which, I drove to Alpine motor service center to do a check on the battery. I was told by Mr Ali that the battery was in good condition. Mr Ali required us to write down the technical issues pertaining to my captiva and we did request a courtesy vehicle on 11th January 2010 ( Appointment date) for further analysis. Mr Ali told us he will try his best to arrange a courtesy car for us.

On 11th January 2010 (before the appointment date), my vehicle faced the same problem, cannot ignite and my wife had to call AAS to jump start again in the morning at 9am. After which, she drove down to Alpine Motor service center to check the battery again and it tested 'No good condition'. Thus, my wife requested to change the battery through my instruction and informed the service advisor, Mr Ali to change to a higher Ampere battery like 75amp but was changed to 55amp. My wife had requested Mr Ali to provide a courtesy car because her works items and both my childrens' bag were still in the car, my helper had sent my children to school by cab without carrying them with her. So my wife need the car to send the school bag to school and she needed to go back to office, how was she going to carry all the items with her by cab. But it was rejected, instead Mr Ali offered to change the battery as soon as possible.

On 27th January 2010, I went down to the service center for the 80K servicing appointment. Mr Ali did not ask me much, he just took my car key for registration and I did mention to him the technical issues of undercarriage sound, remote control intermittence, foul smell from the aircon when passby the drainage or river with the air con turn on circulating mode. When I returned to the service center to collect my car, he told me that all the issues had been settled. I was glad that all the problems were resolved. But before I left the service center, I found out that they did not do my 80k service!!!! So I had to book another day for the 80k servicing on 2nd February 2010. It was a waste of time and troublesome for me to send down my vehicle twice when it could be done in just one day. Do the service center need one whole day to figure out and rectified the problems? And furthermore, the undercarriage sound still persist.

On 2nd February 2010, I went down for the 80k servicing, undercarriage sound and foul smell from the air con again. This time, they had arranged a tester, Mr Alex to follow for test drive and he did identify the problems. He told me it was the shock absorber bearing issues. They had changed it and done the 80k servicing on that day.

On 3rd February 2010, the undercarriage sound appeared again and it become worse. I had called the service center and was diverted to another service advisor, Mr David. I requested him to do a thorough check for my vehicle and I needed a courtesy car for me if they need more than a day, but he told me that they were not able to provide if the repair is under warranty. I had explained to him ,due to my nature of work, I had to travel from site to site. He told me he will inform the management and get back to me. But till now, it had been 2 weeks, he did not revert to me the outcome.

I would appreciate if you can help out on these matters. As my past experience with StarAuto, they were cooperative, customer oriented and most importantly they were able to provide a courtesy car to me so long as my vehicle has any technical faulty. This year August 2010 will be 3 years and I do not wish that when warranty period is over, the technical fault issues are not resolve and at the end of the day, I need to paid the cost of the repairs. These is definitely not fair to us as a consumer.

I appreciate that you can look into this matter and awaiting for your soonest reply.

Regards

This is the standard reply just to tell you they have receive your email and looking into the matter. If one week later still nothing from them, can follow up by riding on their reply to check what is the outcome of their so call "checking".

If GM take this seriously, most probably they would have forwarded this email to Alpine and for them to investigate and by now Mr. Ali will be fuming mad as he would have been call up by his superior to account for his customer service style. Laughing

Like dat no choice liao, better set aside some extra money for your Captiva, seem to have lots of problem. No gurantee that during the 2 years there is no problem, looking from here even within 3 years already got lots of problem another 2 more years will represent more problem.

Maybe you can calculate the future spending on repairs, and pump that after the first 3 years and change to maybe a Honda CRV or a Totota Forturner or even a Nissan Murano, better investment in these makes.

More the reason to let go your Captiva bro... maybe you got a lemon one Shocked The longer you hang on to it, the more you spend on your repair, might just as well put that money in a new car where for the 3 years everything covered by warranty.

Thank goodness taxi bang you coz if opposite, you sure kena claim jialat. But this is no reason to claim excessively.. Just be fair.

From the description, and furthermore send back to agent we are looking minimally around 3K to 4K to the taxi company. Cost of the courtesy car is also included in the claim, if the car is in the workshop for more than 2 weeks, then we should be looking around 5K.
