Re: Complaint against well known Chevy workshop
Thanks for sharing... never come across my mind to go there for service and furthermore this was not posted at the usual forum, my guess is that maybe they think that this is not a Chevyclub member so can anyhow chop carrot since this fella also don't know their background.

Too many incident to think about But things do happen, no matter what. Which workshop don't practise such tactics? ..... Eh on second thought maybe I'm quite happy with the service and charges by our current "inhouse" work shop = CanServe!

Re: Complaint against well known Chevy workshop
it was well documented in the other FORUM as well...
like our "in-hse" technical supervisor has spoken...CANSERVE is still serving the best other option shop.

What I actually meant to say, if you are a first timer to a workshop, any mechanic will also want to do a carrot chop, no matter which workshop. If you come and says "I read so much about your workshop from the forum, how honest and knowledgeable...all the crap", or maybe you say so and so intro me your workshop, I think the mechanic would think twice before doing a carrot chop on you.
Mechanic will treat you well if they know you, sometime there must be a give an take kind of situation, because not all problem can be solved by a mechanic. From my recent experience, my mechanic and I both cannot tell what the actual problem. Initially it was there, trouble shoot like don't know what and still can't find the source of the problem, a few days later the problem go off by itself. Can I say that the mechanic is incompetent because he cannot diagnose the problem? Then how do I justify this incompetent mechanic because he can solve other issues?
The only difference is that I feel comfortable with my mechanic because we work things out together and try to see if we come to the same conclusion. I like best because he would not recommend me to change parts base on mere suspicion, he would rather troubleshoot further to confirm and in my recent encounter he refuse to accept any payment because the situation is unresolved, even though I did offer to pay because he spend some time test driving my car, opening and checking parts to make sure everything is fine, time spend by a mechanic on you car means time off from other paying customer car, they are like doctor and lawyer that charge client by the hour for their expertise.

Would be good if you can input. At least have alternative workshop nearer to home. My 5-year old jalopy would be needing more attention as she aged..

Re: Complaint against well known Chevy workshop
Have been keeping a close eye on the trouble workshop, spark flying as more complaint comes in and to be fair some of the complaint are justified some are doubtful, one complaint was on aircon, the guy spend almost $750 and still did not get his aircon issue resolve, he sent to another workshop and pay another $250 and get his problem solved, all in all that's $1K, or equal to 2 aircon compressors or 1 whole set of new compressor, dryer and labor! In the first place, logically if aircon problem, go find air workshop simple as that. It's the same as when you are sick, flu and fever just go to any GP to get medicine but if you break a leg, don't think so a GP can do anything because of the lack of equipment and also know-how to set a broken bone right, so you go to a hospital for that. Least to say if you still end up at a clinic to see the GP, he will write you a referral letter and send you to the hospital, so if the workshop have limited knowledge on repair job such as the aircon, instead of changing parts and trying their lack that the changed part is the correct diagnosis, just simply refer the customer to an aircon specialist and save all the hassle of an unhappy customer!
