Abs failure Empty Abs failure

Post  aboh Sat Jun 13, 2009 2:15 am

Dunnoe if I shld call it abs failure.. Lots of noise from d brake.. Abs lights lite up.. cannot press in the brake... Plans for sat all hold up.. My family needs the car.. Fail me twice within 6 mths... but this time round too dangerous to drive.. Technically mechanical failure do happen but it has a life span.. But not at this stage.. this is too soon..may car is only 1 year plus and odo of 45k. Lucky still under warranty.. See what SA says tomolo.. Thumbs up or down for chevy cars? All these break down that chevy owners are facing are sign of poor parts and workmanship. If not why fails so often? This is a sign something is wrong with Chevy cars. Guys keep ur warranty... Car do break down but how often compared to other makers? Wonder if other so called reliable automakers parts fails at an early stage..

I think optra not much problem.. Aveo a lot of problems.. seriously.. I remember one of our bro ride aveo also face the same problem with mine.. Look at the one of the other forum and i remember reading a post posted by an aveo owner regarding abt ecu failure way back b4 i joined here.. Back to my situation, call the 24hrs no (advice from our bro bow) and they towed my car straight dat nite from a tow truck company called Quality Tow Services. Received a call next morning from SA, he ask wat happen. I explained to him wat happen. He ask me 1 question. "Did ur engine die and refuse to start?" I was thinking for a min.. Im having braking problems and my abs lite up and he ask abt engine dying? Im not sure why he ask this. Mayb it has something to do with ECU. Anyway I answered no and he said 2 possible reasons.. ECU giving false signals OR problems with abs sensor... He said his team is occupied with servicing customers and can only diagnose my problem after dat.. it was abt 830 dat time. 1100 am received a called from him saying that my car is ready for collection. left abs sensor spoil. No charges as car is still under warranty..Im happy coz i have big plans on that day and need the ride badly. My elder bro commented that ur ride broke down again?? I said yeah sadly.. Im losing hopes on chevy cars.. Twice within a period of 6 mths! My elder bro driving suzuki for 4 years and no problem except for wear and tear. Same goes for my bro in law driving altis..Aveo was listed one of the most dangerous car to drive.. my summary of chevy car.. Engine wise good.. dats the only thing im proud of abt my chevy car. Just posting a piece of my mind.. Sorry if i offended any parties here.. Peace!!

No offense taken la.. it's your opinion and you have a right to it. It seem that the Aveo is a biot fragile as compare to Optra or even to the Sparks. You seldom hear them complaint big time as well. It's the draw of the lucky straw, hopefully your woes will end here with the ABS sensors, anyway far more better to have it happen while your car is still under warranty otherwise a nice hole in the pocket.

Ya correct, I think your first time only the light went up but no problem... mechanically. Just go to show the tell tale sign and if the mechanic were competent the first time, the 2nd incident would not have resulted... Mad

Bro wat you are facing is normal for aveo cars. Prevoisuly one of bro ride.. den me.. now you.. All the same problem. What you are facing is what we call "Abs sensor failure" As you know, modern cars now has abs feature in their breaking. Back to your problem.. there are 4 sensor, two for your front 2 wheels and 2 for the rear wheels. Could be one of more of the sensor has fail. For my case previously, it was the left rear.

Symptoms include:

Noise coming from the brake pedal. (Brake pedal vibrate by itself)

Unable to press in the brake pedal. (Very hard)

Abs light lights up.

Serious la...it's actually one sensor near the wheel hub. Need to take out the wheel for sure otherwise cannot access the sensor.

Each wheel will need 1 sensor. One of the reason the sensor is not working could be it's covered with dust. You may want to remove the wheel and see if you can clean the sensors first. Aboh has got one of those compress air gun, that should do the trick. If it doesn't then the sensor koyak already and need changing.
