New Ruling Effective 1st August - Topping up in Malaysia.
Seem that nobody post anything on the above subject matter.
I just came back from my very short holiday break. Saw the notice on all pump station at 2nd Link, foreign vehicles are NOT allowed to pump RON 95 petrol. They can only pump grade 97 RON, no limit and this ruling takes effect 1st August 2010. Also saw this notice at the Air Keroh R & R Caltex but did not notice this in KL itself. For Diesel, can only pump up to 20 litres.

If I read the notice correctly, the ruling applies to across the entire Semenanjung bro. Throughout Malaysia, foreign registered car can only purchase the 97RON and above which is retailing about RM 2.10 per litre, whereas the lower grade 95RON is retailing about RM1.80 per litre.
The diesel is limited to 20 litre and within the 50km radius of the border still applies.

At RM2.10/litre still cheaper than Singapore. Guess no harm in filling higher 97 Ron since our rides only need minimum 95 Ron.

if you ever drive to JB to top-up, make sure you do NOT pump Ron 95. Many cases of S'pore drivers pumping Ron 95 but forced to pay the higher Ron 97 price. Just be aware..

There is always that thin fine line ..... the notice I saw is quite clear on unlimited purchase of RON97, foreigners not allowed to buy RON95 but it never states what would happen if you get that instead of what you suppose to pump in. Anyway the difference is RM 0.30, if compare that to what you paying for petrol in Singapore, why not just toe the line and pay RM 0.30 rather than making it more complicated for the Malaysian law maker, this is far more better than the 20 litres ruling.
