Flash Photography
Got a good deal on a Metz 50 AF-1 Pentax mount flash. The owner purchased it on 31 July 2011 but after about a week plus decide to let it go, he paid $430 for this unit with a 3rd party diffuser. I bargain down to $360 for this beauty, problem is that I cannot resist the good deal, but my flash photography sucks big time. My last foray into flash photography ended up in frustration when the 3rd party China made flash which I got for my K-x refuse to work with my K-5. Got it from the internet for about $170 and after nearly a year of storage sold it off for $120.
This time around the Metz 50 is suppose to work with the K-5 and the flash is entirely made in Germany and will support P-TTL. Here are some test shots taken after I got the flash today, will appreciate comments if I got it right this time or not, off course I have not gone "into" flash thoroughly but will appreciate all the help I can get.

Re: Flash Photography
Can't see any of the test shots so can't comment.
For flash photography, I usually stick to shutter speed of 1/60 and set the aperture using the flash guide. This would be a manual setting. For the current 3rd party flash, i found that it worked best at iTTL mode with the camera settings at manual. Of course you need to experiment with the variuos flash/camera settings for best results. Good luck and congrats on the good bargain. Mertz flash are great..!
