Have you add the balance of your COE? Actual value = OMV + COE. Your loan settlement is $14K have minus the interest penalty?

How much was your premium last year?
last year is $952.....this year shoot up sky high...dunno why
Any accident claim or not?
was hit by taxi few months back.....think they hvnt settle or what...had call them to revise and will revert to me...but i think it will still sky high.....at least 15% or more than last year...
Perhaps due to this, you must check with them and get new quote.

COE calculation estimate = COE less number of years % (e.g. COE = 10000, No. of years used is 5 years so it should be 10K less 50% or $5K and add that to your OMV should be the total value of your car at scrap) For loan, call up your finance company and ask them amount for full settlement, that would have offset the penalty already.
BTW you checking all this to get MPV issit?

Re: Motor Insurance
Just got my notice to renew insurance. Another year, another 10% less but overall AXA quote me $1119 for this year and it was $1200 for last year. Every year our car depreciate by 10% minimum but the insurance premium doesn't make any sense! It either remain the same or less by 7% to 8%.
I'm looking at other insurance company, damn was loyal to AXA for the last 3 years, they kotok you for that. Anyway I have already got some quotes and it seem the cheapest this year is from Chartis (formerly known as AIG). Talk to the agent last night, he mentioned that this policy got complimentary use of vehicle for 10 days in the event of any accident.
So I mentioned to him, I'm driving an OPC car so on normal days I don't need to drive to work and etc, and I don't think so I need the complimentary car and if I can get discount if I don't want to include this option.....he replied it's already in the package, so want or don't want the premium cost the same.

Re: Motor Insurance
Bro Ikon, have you tried Aviva on-line quote? Also look at MSIG which i am currently using. They give you a $60 petrol card (Caltex) valid for 1 year. When i was scouting around, MSIG gave the best quotes. Good luck.

MSIG I tried online and it cost me about the same as AXA $11XX. I have another quote also about $98X but this one is comprehensive any workshop, so will wait for more quotes to come in and compare the perks first before I commit, still have about 3 weeks before I need to get a policy.

You will have to check with the agent at the point of enquiry as the terms and conditions as well as the priviledges changes constantly and depending on case to case basis. Here are the list of those insurance company that you can get quote from:-
Compare Express
Asia Direct
SG Car Quote
Cheap Motor Insurance
Insurance Supermart
You can also google for more quotes. Just enter " Motor Insurance Quote Singapore "

Motor Insurance - How well are you insured.
Initialy thought of starting a new topic on insurance then suddenly realise that we already have one going on.
Every year we curse under our breath when the quotation comes for insurance renewal, no choice the law require that we have these before we can drive our cars on the road. The majority of us when it comes to purchasing motor insurance will I guess aske these two questions:-
1. How much?
2. Easy to claim?
and I can bet that most of us don't even read the policy.
So I hope this topic jump starter will further enhance our knowledge of what we are paying for and also it will make us more aware when it comes to insurance claims and renewal.
Starting off:-
B O L A - Barameter of Liability Agreement
This is something the insurance company will base how much liability each party in an accident need to pay. Simple enough, this will speed up the claim process, less headache for the insuring company. However do take note, you are still entitle to contest the liability under legal recourse.
If your liability is less than 20%, you will also not lose your NCD. - This sentence is very powerful if you match that agains the last sentence in the previous paragraph!

Re: Motor Insurance
Just got my renewal notice from MSIG. Was quoted $866.99 (include GST) at 50% NCD and if i renew a month before my insurance expire, MSIG will provide me with a $300 car grooming package. Rather have a $300 discount on my renewal. Anyway, my last premium was $896.00 with $60 petrol voucher. I'll still look around for other quotes but if the difference isn't much, will probably stick with MSIG and get my ride groomed at the same time.
