Re: Motor Insurance
I just got a quote from NTUC. Totally, not competitive at all. Quoted $1050 on authorised workshop package. $1200 for any workshop. excess $600 and windscreen at $100. Yucks..! I'm waitng for a couple more quotes but i'm beginning to feel that MSIG quote not that bad.. Not sure what $300 grooming package but at least can "refresh" my 5 year old ride.

Re: Motor Insurance
Lately dunno why NTUC is always quoting higher than any other insurance company, in my last two insurance renewal, I totally overlook NTUC.

Too early lah bro. Normally, they will only quote 60 days from expiry of current insurance.

no freebies.....only dat my excess on paper is $700 but only pay half if go to their authorised w/shop. niwae i heard is dat NTUC if u need to tow after an accident....they will just tow to nearest w/shop...not like AXA whos tow truck will tow to ur authorised preference w/shop eg. near ur home....

Re: Motor Insurance
Just got another quote, this time from online Directasia.com. Quite attractive at $705.00 with $600 excess, loss of use of car, any workshop and the standard no excess for windscreen. This compares favourably with MSIG that quoted me $870 with $500 excess but with freebies of a $300 car grooming package. How much this package is actually worth - your guess is as good as mine. Btw, this for 50% NCD.

Whoa, that's a good quote, just slightly above the $600 mark, BTW which insurance company is providing the coverage? So which one are you going for?

I actually don't know which insurance company is providing coverage. I just went online and request a quote. The quote is good for 30 days but at this kind of prices, very difficult to match. Still have time to shop around just to be sure.

Re: Motor Insurance
Whoa, they just provide you the quote and no details? Any other terms and condition and etc., minimally should also know which company providing the coverage, would be risky going without this knowledge, as you end up having a hard time where claims are concern.

The quote i got online was i feel, too good to be true so i checked again. Premium quoted was $705.15, excess $600, windscreen $100, authorized workshop repairs - that's it!
They have other optional "benefits" at a price:
1) Medical expenses for driver & passenger up to $500/pax - additional $16.00
2) Personal accident for driver - up to $100,000 - additional $53.00
3) Loss of use of car (max 10 days)- additional $53.50
4) NCD Protection - additional $70.51
5) Repatriation costs -up to $3500 for towing and $200/pax - additional $10.70
6) 24 hr breakdown assistance - additional $16.05
7) Any workshop repairs - additional $105.77
If i were to take all the optional "benefits", it's an additional cost of $326.08 making it a total of $1,031.23. So now i have to compare the coverage by MSIG and see it it's really worth to switch. I still have no idea which insurance company will provide coverage at this stage. Guess, I'll make enquires once i decide to take them on. Anyway, it's a good exercise as you now know the various options available. I advise you guys to go through this exercise so that you are better informed of your motor insurance coverage. Happy motoring..!

Re: Motor Insurance
Hmm let me see
Item 1 - Not necessary
Item 2 - Must Have, also covers Item for Driver
Item 3 - Must have if you need the car everyday - otherwise can forgo as well.
Item 4 - Must have
Item 5 - If you travel on Malaysian road most of the time, this is a must have
Item 6 - Ehhh can forgo if you have other "arrangement"
Item 7 - Ehhh also can forgo if you have no preferred WS (like RDY or something)
Overall they manage to quote you very low by removing all the icing and sugar coating....eh wait a minute, I don't think so they remove the icing and sugar coating, looks like they remove the top of the cake la!

Re: Motor Insurance
Have decided to renew with MSIG cos almost all the "optional" offered by Direct Asia are covered by MSIG. Difference is there is no "loss of use" by MSIG. But the policy covers unlimited windscreen with no access, any workshop and excess of $500. Makes more sense to stay with current insurers. On top of that, can look forward to a grooming package if i renew 1 month before expiry of current policy. My advice to bros out there - compare before committing.

Yup, one time grooming. not sure of the place but it's at Toh Guan Centre, Level 3. Need to call for appointment. No hurry to groom now, maybe after the next servicing, might send it over for grooming. Cannot wait too long, sekali grooming centre close down, i'm left with a piece of worthless paper.

Bro, $300 is perceived value to persuade you to renew your motor policy. How much it's exactly worth...don't know leh... Maybe i should call and ask for the same package to find out.
