Warning - Pro RS SS brake hose burst
Just had a lucky escape this evening when my front right side brake hose burst while braking at a traffic light junction at Buangkok Green. I was approaching the traffic light when it turned amber, i brake, putting more pressure than normal. Car slowed down, when suddenly felt a "pop" and my brakes were gone. Car just went over the stop line and i had to accelerate to clear the junction. Tried the brake again, and confirm they're gone. Managed to get to the side and finally stop at a bus bay. The right inside fender was splattered with brake fluid. I dare not drive as it's just too dangerous with traffic so heavy at this road. Called for a tow truck and had it towed to workshop.
To all bros using this hose, please have them checked immediately and thereafter do it regularly, I has mine checked 3 months ago. Seemed ok then. Bro Lost experienced the same problem just about 3 months back. I'll be on stock hose for the time being till i get this resolved. I'm thankful this didn't happen when i was speeding on the highway. Someone still watching over me...

So far only Optra seem to have this problem, anyway you guys on RS-Pro should get it inspected for any wear and tear and if possible replace back the stock hose.

Re: Warning - Pro RS SS brake hose burst
Ok guys, I'm back on my stock brake hose. Decided to change all back to stock till i find a reputable SS brake hose to replace. So far braking is no issues and my ceramic brake pads did the job well enough. This could also be due to the new brake fluid. Let's see after some more km if the brakes are as good as they are now. Was driving in the heavy rainstorm and braking on the wet is still good.

Re: Warning - Pro RS SS brake hose burst
I've contacted another bro using the Pro-Rs, it seem that his too was leaking and he got it change at the begining of this year. Bro Md Zul, I will need your brake hose to take pictures and to sent to the manufacturer. All I can say that this brake hose is a abad design which will last the most for two years. It could just be a wanna be SSBBH as compare to more reputable brand but not enough R & D is put in through the design.
There could be a number of reason, first come to mind would be the lack of experience for the Optra Model on the manufacturer part. Not enough road test conducted to deem this product as safe to used on the road. Second is that the rubber material use to bind around the joint is not the correct type, rubber after exposure to heat and water will hardend and break easily. This could be a cost factor, but this I can only confirm if the other bros using Aveo are having the same problem, otherwise it could also be a design flaw.
I will gather more evidence and put forward to the manufacturer for their response. If they are responsible enough, they will reply to me otherwise they will keep quiet and I guess it would take us to spread the words on the internet on the manufacturer blatant atittude, otherwise lives will be at stake.

No problem, will pass it to you when we next meet. It's a design flaw but the materials used is something to be considered. Best is whoever using this brake hose to have them checked or better change back to stock. I shudder to think if the hose failed while driving on the N-S highway.. Be safe guys..

You have to visually inspect the hose, jack up your car, turn the tire outwardyou should be able to see the hose.

Think it's Hi-Q or something like that. I used them before. Not too bad, in fact i would say better than stock. But then Ceramic Pads are still the best..

Bro Lost was on normal brake and bro Mdzul is on ceramic, both experience broken hose ... logically could it still be bcos of the ceramic?

Re: Warning - Pro RS SS brake hose burst
Sounds more like fatigue failure.. Need a material specialist to study the hose.. It seems like it cannot withstand something and give way..

Re: Warning - Pro RS SS brake hose burst
Did my 50K servicing recently and was at Song Yi to get the parts, the front brake hose was also available at $28 per pair. I decided to change the SSBH due to safety factor and went down to Canserve to get the hose change.
Summing up the entire experience, when Hairi took out the hose, I can see that the rubber between the middle joint cracked and expose the steel braided, however the steel braiding itself is not affected. No break or tear. Anyway to play it safe I got it changed back to stock.
Overall, I have this to say, although I'm using ceramic brake pads, braking is never the same as whe you are on the SSBH!! I immediately felt the vast difference in my braking, and I no longer have the confidence of late braking anymore.
In a nut shell, must go and really source for good quality SSBH!
